Traveling one-way between Ōamaru and Dunedin

We offer both return and one-way train tickets on The Victorian train.
If you are travelling one-way from Dunedin, your train will reach Ōamaru at around 12.15pm.
If you are traveling one-way from Ōamaru, please wait at the Ōamaru train station with your ticket ready to show the guard at 2.45pm.

Getting around from the Ōamaru Train Station

The train will arrive at the Ōamaru train station, which is a 10-minute walk from the Victorian Precinct.
Sometimes there is a bus available between the station and Ōamaru's town centre for a small fee.

Seating and Group Bookings

Seating is General Admission but carriages may be allocated to improve your boarding/disembarking experience.
If you are in a group, we recommend arriving early to find preferred seating together.
Private carriages may be available on request if you have a group of 30+ passengers.

LOCAL tickets

Proof of Dunedin city residency will be required at check-in (i.e. A computer-generated bill or statement that is not more than two months old and clearly shows your name and full residential address).
One piece of proof required for each booking.
No proof, no boarding pass.

We have limited space onboard. If you wish to travel with a bike or other large items, please contact our team to request storage space before making a booking and at least 3 business days before your preferred train trip begins.
